Cyber Criminals sink to new low

Its been all over several Security sites last week that the Storm worm has changed once more in the first wave since the one coinciding with Valentines day. Now there was nothing particularly new or interesting about this latest wave (poses as an ecard, site has exploits etc), except for the time the new wave started.

The latest wave commenced at 02:11 am on the 3rd of March. I know this exact time because that was the time in the morning that an automated SMS message from our Storm monitoring system woke me up to tell me of the switch.

Would it be so difficult for malware writers to release their new threats at a decent hour of the day (GMT)? Grumble grumble grumble...

They could set up a service. They release new variants as a wake up call. Think of the savings on alarm clocks they could make for malware researchers.
